News

Last month the Vestry approved support of the Eau Claire Warming Center being housed in the basement of the 502 S. Farwell building. Ken Van Es and Mike Carlson represent Christ Church Cathedral on this committee.

This committee was formed due to the overflow of homeless being turned away from the Sojourner House and having no warm place to stay. The committee has raised funds to support CCC in heating and utilities for the building during the winter months.

The basement will be used as a warming shelter during the overnight hours and will be staffed by qualified, trained volunteers during open hours (8 pm - 8 am). You can find more information about this program at this web site: www.ecwarmingcenter.com. You will also find a link for volunteers on this website. The center began operations on Sunday, December 15th. They have served 3-6 people per night open. Please sign up to volunteer for an evening. It cannot open without the necessary volunteers.

Name badges are available and located in the back of the church in alphabetical order by first name. Please make every effort to use them consistently. Since we are all worshiping at one service; name tags will help to create greater connection.

On June 11, 2019, Lynn Goodearl nominated CCC for a Sunshine award with WEAU News.  Lynn, was recently baptized during the the Easter Vigil.  Here is her message:

"I would like to nominate  Christ Church Cathedral for a Sunshine Award to say thank you to everyone in the church for extending a warm welcome to me. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many kind-hearted people. Thank You all so much for the inclusion!"

Dear Parish Family,

We need volunteers to sign up to lead Children's Church for the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month (the 2nd & 5th Sundays are already covered). The weekly bulletins, leader's lesson guide, and poster are all printed and ready in the Sunday school room.

Supporting our children with age appropriate instruction is part of our duty to "go and make disciples". Volunteer today so we can get started on fulfilling the "Safe Church" requirements of the Episcopal Church for volunteers working with children.   Please contact the office to get the process started - This email address is being protected from spambots. Dear Friends,

The early church came together across previously unimaginable social and political boundaries in the name of Jesus for mutual support, encouragement, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God.

We welcome you to attend our in person worship at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. We sincerely hope that people will feel comfortable and safe returning to in-person worship. Even so, some will not feel safe or face a greater risk, and so we will provide a Zoom link and Facebook live stream to the in-person worship as a way of keeping our community together in worship.

This has been a long journey that is not quite at its end, but I am hopeful, along with the Vestry, that we will be able to travel this last stage together with a renewed sense of hope and purpose in our mission to share the love of God with all the world.
