We have decided to expand the network of those we are able to impact at Christ Church Cathedral! Please assist us by following our new Instagram & Twitter feeds which can be found by using the address @ccceauclaire for both. Our Facebook address is @cathedralec. Help us all stay connected and to reach more by sharing these on your own social media accounts.
Last month the Vestry approved support of the Eau Claire Warming Center being housed in the basement of the 502 S. Farwell building. Ken Van Es and Mike Carlson represent Christ Church Cathedral on this committee.
This committee was formed due to the overflow of homeless being turned away from the Sojourner House and having no warm place to stay. The committee has raised funds to support CCC in heating and utilities for the building during the winter months.
The basement will be used as a warming shelter during the overnight hours and will be staffed by qualified, trained volunteers during open hours (8 pm - 8 am). You can find more information about this program at this web site: www.ecwarmingcenter.com. You will also find a link for volunteers on this website. The center began operations on Sunday, December 15th. They have served 3-6 people per night open. Please sign up to volunteer for an evening. It cannot open without the necessary volunteers.
The purpose of this mission is “To help women and girls worldwide have access to reusable items to manage their monthly cycles and teach them about the love of God.” Each attendee brings your own scissors, 2 yards of 100% cotton, 1 yard of cotton flannel, Fabric Marker for tracing the pattern, Safety pins used to keep like cutout pieces of fabric together until they get to Honduras for sewing, These 3 yards of fabric will be enough to cut out 25 pads. Patterns will be available for each table.. Each person traces and cuts fabric to match the provided patterns. Snacks will be provided. Please come to the Memorial Lounge on Saturday, February 29th from 9-10:30 a.m. if you would like to participate. Call Jackie Hjelm for details 715.577.1973.
Name badges are available and located in the back of the church in alphabetical order by first name. Please make every effort to use them consistently. Since we are all worshiping at one service; name tags will help to create greater connection.
