Please help us to welcome him back for the first time since the pandemic began.
IntinctionAt communion we are doing away with the practice of intinction, which is dipping the bread into the cup. If you want to receive communion in both kinds, please take the bread and consume it immediately and drink from the common cup. If you are uncomfortable drinking from the cup, please eat the bread and reverence the cup by crossing your arms as it passes. The chance of disease transmission from a common cup is statistically very small. The chances of an infection being passed around from intincting are much higher. We Stand TogetherAnd we are in it for the long haul! There have been times you have looked on and wondered how you could help; and now we ALL have that chance. You can help by staying at home if you are sick. You can help by cooking or shopping or running errands for friends who need to stay home. You can help by asking yourself, “what can I and my family do to help?” “What can we offer?” You can help by seeing yourself as something bigger than yourself. If you find yourself in plenty and would like to help, please contact the office to be put on a list. If you are in need, or know someone in need, please contact the office so that we can help. Family Promise/Beacon House Outreach OpportunityChrist Church Cathedral’s next opportunity to serve at Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley/Beacon House will be the the third week of March. We share duties at the Family Homeless Shelter one week each quarter with Lake Street Methodist Church. Our responsibility for this outreach opportunity is to provide 2 people to spend the night at Beacon House on Tuesday, March 17th and Friday, March 20th, we also need to provide the evening meal on The 20th. Staying overnight is very easy, it involves arriving at Beacon House at 8:15 PM and staying until 7:30 AM. The accommodations are very quiet and comfortable, duties include answering the door for registered guests and solving any minor issues that may arise, Beacon House Staff is always on call and available for assistance. Please see Rick or Ellen Allison or Doug Faulkner to sign up for an overnight or to provide food for the Friday evening meal. Spending time at Beacon House is a great way to provide assistance to our neighbors in need and fulfill our mission as servants of Christ. Fr. Bruce GardnerAfter a brief hospital stay, Fr. Gardner has moved back into his address at Care Partners, 3325 Birch St. Room 29, Eau Claire WI 54703. Community Table March 17 ~ volunteers & milk neededWe still need 2-3 gallons of milk Saturday, March 17th, help is needed between 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with 2 shifts to choose from. You can sign up to stay for both shifts, or choose the one that works best for you. In-person service changes the number of people needed to commit to the service date; ideally 6 to 8 people for each shift. Interacting directly with people deepens the outreach experience and makes it more meaningful for both the person being served and the service provider. • 1st shift (9 am to 11:30 am) will prepare meals. (2 volunteers) Call the office (715.835.3734) to help with: • Donate plastic of 3 - 6 cases bottles of water or 2 - 3 gallons of milk on our service date. Please click on the button below to review the available slots and sign up. Thank you! Link to The Community Table Volunteer Guidelines ~ Updated June 1st
Kwik Trip Cards FundraiserWe are still partnering with Kwik Trip Fundraising Card Program! As of November 1st, the program is changing slightly. They are now offering a new Grocery Only/In-Store card that we purchase at a 15% base discount. This card can be used toward in-store products. Items not eligible to be purchased with the new card offering include fuel, tobacco, alcohol, gift cars, lottery/lotto, and stamps. This allows us to take advantage of the discount at the point of purchase instead of having to wait for a rebate on grocery items. Regular and Fuel-Only gift cards are still available. We purchase these at a 5% base discount. This is a great way to support the church while purchasing the gas and/or groceries you were going to buy anyway. These cards make great gifts for your friends & family, service providers or employees! Zoom Monthly Prayer Shawl Ministry Meeting - October 20thThe Prayer Shawl Ministry will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:00pm, via Zoom. Parish SurveysParish surveys have been sent via email. If you did not receive one, it may have gone into your spam folder, or the office may need to add your email to the distribution list. Please contact the office if you need the survey to be (re)sent to you via email. If you are unable to fill out the online version, please take a copy from the Memorial Lounge, fill it out, and return it to Christa in the office. Please prayerfully consider this survey, which will give the Vestry and others engaged in the search process (including your next priest) a snapshot of this worshiping community. The survey touches on a number of areas such as what the parish thinks about current and future ministry, the most desired qualities of a priest, and the theological/social trends in the congregation. Your honest participation is vital to conducting an open and effective search for a priest who will truly fit the needs of this community as it enters a new chapter of God’s story in this place. If you have any questions or concerns related to the survey or any other aspect of the Dean search, please contact a member of the Vestry. All submissions are anonymous and confidential. St. Francis Food PantryThank You for 2020 donations of 63 pounds of grocery items brought forward at the March 1st Eucharist. Diocesan Summer Camp ~ any kids interested? Scholarships availableCamp is an intergenerational experience which has transformed the lives of many people. Here is a report from one of our very own parishioners who attended the camp in 2018. If you have anyone that is interested in participating, we are working on a bake sale fundraiser (June 5th) to help offset the cost and will also have scholarships available. We need to know who is interested right away. Please email or call the office if you are interested! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 715.835.3734. My First Year at Camp Crosswood's My first year was a blast! The schedule of camp is you get up, if you don't want to go to the early adventure, you sleep in. Then after awhile you get up for breakfast. Then you go on your morning adventure, after that you go back for lunch and dessert! Then we get free time. Later we have dinner and dessert. Then the adults do a skit. Finally you have jaw time and that's the end of the day. Let's get to the activities: water wars is a kayaking game where you have to find the other teams ball. There's a red team and a blue team, the kayak will have a colored buoy depending on the team you are on. If someone pulls your buoy you have to go to an adult and get it on. If you have the ball and someone pulls your buoy then you drop the ball in the water, no re-hiding. There's another game in the dead of night where you put on your darkest clothing, you have to hide from the people with flashlights and get tickets. If you get caught you give them your tickets. If you don't have any, they punish you. Praising and worshipping is important there. The adult Izzy did grace Jurassic World themed. Because she loves dinos. We would all sing worship songs and dance and do grace before every meal, and we all had fun!
