Valet Parking and Parking Lot AssistanceIn an effort to address safety concerns for parishioners attending Sunday morning service, we will have volunteers in the drop off area and in the parking lot. If you need assistance and would like someone to park your car or walk with you from the parking lot, please look for a volunteer wearing an orange safety vest. If you would like to volunteer to help with this project, please contact the office or speak to Rick Allison. Prayer Shawl Sunday and Winter Scarf Collection for Luke 3:11 ProjectThis Sunday, January 22 is Prayer Shawl Sunday. Prayer shawls will be blessed by clergy, and them members and visitors are invited to take a shawl after the service if you know someone in need of comfort and strength, or celebrating a special occasion. Please write the recipient's name in our journal so that we can include them in our prayers. The Prayer Shawl Ministry's love and prayers are woven into each shawl as they are created. We give our shawls as a gift of love and concern for those who need solace, for thanksgiving, or as a blessing of celebration. Luke 3:11 Project Donation: The next Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting is Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 PM. We are a not only a parish ministry, but also a community ministry. We invite and encourage new members to join us. If you’re unable to attend our monthly meetings you can drop your shawls off in the parish office or we can make arrangements to get them from you. Please join us! 12th Anniversary Benefit Concert for Feed My PeopleUnder the direction of Gary Rambo, the "CVA Sing" Community Choir will present "Come Together" on Sunday March 1. Family Promise/Beacon House Outreach OpportunityChrist Church Cathedral’s next opportunity to serve at Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley/Beacon House will be the the third week of March. We share duties at the Family Homeless Shelter one week each quarter with Lake Street Methodist Church. Our responsibility for this outreach opportunity is to provide 2 people to spend the night at Beacon House on Tuesday, March 17th and Friday, March 20th, we also need to provide the evening meal on The 20th. Staying overnight is very easy, it involves arriving at Beacon House at 8:15 PM and staying until 7:30 AM. The accommodations are very quiet and comfortable, duties include answering the door for registered guests and solving any minor issues that may arise, Beacon House Staff is always on call and available for assistance. Please see Rick or Ellen Allison or Doug Faulkner to sign up for an overnight or to provide food for the Friday evening meal. Spending time at Beacon House is a great way to provide assistance to our neighbors in need and fulfill our mission as servants of Christ. Wedding Open House-A Beautiful Day!On Sun., February 16, CCC held our first wedding open house. The cathedral, great hall & wedding party dressing room were beautifully decorated to welcome people in to see how their wedding could be at the Cathedral. The event was open to the public & all who attended were warmly greeted & given tours. In addition we offered beverages, macaroons, & door prizes. This event was made possible through the generous donations of our committee members, the ECW, individual parishioners & friends, along with many local businesses. We are very grateful for gifts & donations from our ECW, Nostalgic Bean Coffee and Bakery, Token Jewelry, Bethany Shuda, Serena O’Meara, Infinity Beverages, Bemis Bluff Winery, The Coffee Grounds, Brent Douglas Floral, The Center & SEEPA Accounting Service-Em Chumas, Chumas Insurance Agency, Missy Stepanek, Janeen Hubbell, Christine Schaaf, and Elaine Ellenson. Thanks to our wedding open house planners, Christa Cates, Deb Christianson, Jany Chumas, Denise Foster, Mary Gadwill, Deb Lorenze, and Becky Van Es for their passion, talents, and hard work. Thanks to all who helped make our wedding open house a beautiful day! Fr. Bruce GardnerAfter a brief hospital stay, Fr. Gardner has moved back into his address at Care Partners, 3325 Birch St. Room 29, Eau Claire WI 54703. SAVE THE DATE •Community Table March 17 ~ volunteers & milk neededWe still need 2-3 gallons of milk Saturday, March 17th, help is needed between 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with 2 shifts to choose from. You can sign up to stay for both shifts, or choose the one that works best for you. In-person service changes the number of people needed to commit to the service date; ideally 6 to 8 people for each shift. (2 volunteers) Call the office (715.835.3734) to help with: • Donate plastic of 3 - 6 cases bottles of water or 2 - 3 gallons of milk on our service date. Diocesan Summer Camp ~ any kids interested? Scholarships availableCamp is an intergenerational experience which has transformed the lives of many people. Here is a report from one of our very own parishioners who attended the camp in 2018. If you have anyone that is interested in participating, we are working on a bake sale fundraiser (June 5th) to help offset the cost and will also have scholarships available. We need to know who is interested right away. Please email or call the office if you are interested! This email address is being protected from spambots. The schedule of camp is you get up, if you don't want to go to the early adventure, you sleep in. Then after awhile you get up for breakfast. Then you go on your morning adventure, after that you go back for lunch and dessert! Then we get free time. Later we have dinner and dessert. Then the adults do a skit. Finally you have jaw time and that's the end of the day. Let's get to the activities: water wars is a kayaking game where you have to find the other teams ball. There's a red team and a blue team, the kayak will have a colored buoy depending on the team you are on. If someone pulls your buoy you have to go to an adult and get it on. If you have the ball and someone pulls your buoy then you drop the ball in the water, no re-hiding. There's another game in the dead of night where you put on your darkest clothing, you have to hide from the people with flashlights and get tickets. If you get caught you give them your tickets. If you don't have any, they punish you. Praising and worshipping is important there. The adult Izzy did grace Jurassic World themed. Because she loves dinos. We would all sing worship songs and dance and do grace before every meal, and we all had fun!
